Orientation Programme on Leadership Skills

The two-day orientation on leadership skills for 1st year MAIS began on the 7th of November at the Panel Room, Block II CHRIST (Deemed to be University), the orientation programme was conducted by Mr. Jaykumar Chandrashekhar, a former christite currently working with inner voice. The orientation programme was presided by Fr. Jose CC, Director of International Studies and History. The day started with a small interaction about expectations from the programme followed by a small discussion on the different types of intelligence, post which the students proceeded to the bird’s park. The students were divided into 4 different teams led by Niyati, Sukanya, Sachin and Anna. The first activity for the day was collecting 25 `1 coins.

 The second activity was the marble game which was to test the coordination amongst the team members. The game ended in a tie between the teams led by Niyati and Sachin which was resolved by distribution of points between the two teams. Post lunch, the first activity was building of towers within a span of 20 mins which was followed by a short discussion on the strategies adopted by the groups for building the tower. The main aim of the task was to determine the way we think out strategies and imbibe a sense cooperation amongst team members after which the winners of the day were announced followed by a brief talk by the leaders about their experience, thus bringing an end to the first day.

Day 2 started on a much more energetic note with two videos and discussion regarding the message behind the videos which was followed by a game of numbers of four rounds played by teams led by Jyotirmai, Paarul and Soundarya. This was followed by a feedback session. Post lunch there was another activity of building squares without any verbal or non-verbal communication. The main aim was to test the emotional intelligence of the students. Post session the students were asked to present the three things they learnt in front of the faculty. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Soundarya and a group selfie. Thus the orientation ended with many memorable memories and learnings for future opportunities.
